We have used this indoors as a stand for a television. It is actually an outdoor Iroko Hardwood Table/ Seat. Consequently, the condition is as good as new. It can easily be disassembled for storage if necessary. The dimensions are Length 65cm, Width 44cm, Height 46cm. The construction is really robust. The price is £45, buyer collection from Wilstone near Tring, Herts.
60 years ago Bananas were still distributed in wooden boxes with lids. They were packed on a straw bed, later on, wood wool, and often arrived with exotic ‘creepy crawlies’. The hands were separated by coloured tissue which also denoted grades. The boxes at the time carried a deposit, and were returnable and reusable. Bushel boxes were the most common way of transporting home grown produce, from cabbage to apples. There were also ‘half’ and ‘quarter’ bushels for smaller produce and quantities. This collection is obviously well used but in good condition considering their age. The quarter bushel has had some minor historic worm damage that had been treated, but all the others are sound. The collection comprises 3 British Banana boxes in comparable condition, complete with lids, One Bushel Box and one Quarter Bushel from the old Spitalfields Market. Ref.
